His Eminence the Most Reverend Archbishop Vsevolod (Maidansky) of Scopelos was a senior bishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (in the USA – Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople) and long-time friend of Pope John Paul II, having his cathedral in Chicago, IL. The family charter issued to and for Laurent Cleenewerck de Kiev is posted on the right side and constitutes an important document for the family which has personal, ecclesiastical and ancestral roots in modern-day Ukraine (ancient Rus) and the Great and Holy City of Kiev.

UNE FAMILLE, UNE ASSOCIATION, UNE FONDATION

Une famille, c’est d’abord un nom qui se transmet, mais c’est aussi et surtout une vision de la vie qui se transmet entre les générations.

Le nom de famille “Cleenewerck” remonte aux Flandres et “de Kiev” – qui fait aussi partie légale du nom de famille – remonte à la fois à l’affiliation ecclésiastique et la descendance généalogique de Saint Vladimir de Kiev.

Depuis 2004, la famille est structurée par une “family charter” (Charte de Famille) portant le sceau de l’Archevêque Vsevolod (voir ci-dessus).

Named after the ancient city of Kiev (also spelled Kyiv), this “House” or family foundation was formalized by a Charter to mark the convergence of ancestral and spiritual events, placed under the Providence of God.
